- Kippah: Wearing a kippah shows that you acknowledge that G-d is always over your head.
- Tallit: A prayer shawl with fringes (tzitzit) on it that remind a person to follow the commandments of G-d.
- Tefillin: These are black leather boxes with leather straps that are wrapped around the arm and put around the head of a person during certain prayer services.
- Beard: Leviticus states, “You shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shall you mar the corners of your beard.”
- Magen David: This is the six pointed Jewish star, often worn as a necklace, and is a common piece of Jewelry that men and women wear.
- Chai: Often worn as a necklace, the chai is composed of two letters shown above, the “chet” and “yod” and means “life.”
- Chamsah: This is an amulet shaped like a hand and supposedly wards off the evil eye.
- Sheitel: Married women should cover their hair according to Jewish tradition. Following the letter of the law, some women cover their hair with other hair (i.e. a wig), called a sheitel.
- Kittel: A white Jewish robe representing purity, that some Jewish men wear at their wedding, High Holidays, and burial.
- Snood: A type of head covering that orthodox women use to cover their hair.
